I've been there for a lot of breakthroughs. Sometimes it's someone's first day on snow. Sometimes it's a dream run in hard terrain.
I start by listening: what do you actually want from your skiing, and why does it matter to you? Once I understand that, I can get creative about how we get there together.
I explain what to do and why it works. That way you can ski the terrain you want, the way you want to ski it.
Who I work with
Skiers who want to understand their skiing
We look at the movements underneath your skiing: why your body does what it does, and how to change it. You'll leave knowing why the new turn works better.
Skiers moving onto steeper terrain
You're solid, but there's terrain you haven't committed to yet: steeps and chutes. We go there together, and I coach you through it.
Families and returning guests
I remember your goals and how you ski. When you come back next season, we pick up where we left off.
About Nick
I teach private lessons at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.
I'm PSIA Certified, and I specialize in lessons for adults and families.
I'm an avid endurance runner. I split my time between Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Bozeman, Montana.
When I'm not on snow, I teach leadership, design, and creative thinking at the graduate level.

How do I book a private lesson with you?

Who do you teach?
Adults and families. The steeps and families pages say what a day looks like for each.
What does a day look like?
We start by talking about what you want from the day. Then we ski, and I choose terrain for your goals and the conditions. Lessons are a full day or a half day. We can start any time, but most people start at 9am when the mountain opens. You can also book early access, which gets us on the mountain before it opens to the public. It's great on powder days.
Can I book you for my whole trip?
Yes. You can have the same instructor every day of your trip.
Where do we meet?
Wherever is convenient for you: the base of the mountain, your hotel, your home or your rental.
How much does a private lesson cost?
I send the price with your confirmation. Payment is handled through Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Current prices are on the resort's Mountain Sports School page.
